Benny Reid - The Infamous Live

New York saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Benny Reid takes on one of hip-hop's most celebrated albums with The Infamous Live, a remarkable instrumental reimagining of Mobb Deep's 1995 classic The Infamous. Rather than relying on samples, Reid rebuilds the record from the ground up using entirely live instrumentation, bringing his background in jazz improvisation and composition to the dark, atmospheric soundscapes that made the original so influential.

The project even received the blessing of Mobb Deep's Havoc, who worked with Reid in the studio to help bring it to life. The result is a fascinating meeting point between funk, jazz and golden-era East Coast hip-hop, preserving the gritty, haunting character of the original while revealing new layers in its melodies and arrangements. An essential listen for Mobb Deep fans, jazz and funk heads, and anyone fascinated by the connection between hip-hop and live instrumentation.
