Magic Source - Earthrising

Earthrising marks the moment Magic Source step fully into their own cosmic orbit. Led by producer and analog purist Björn Wagner (The Mighty Mocambos, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band), the project fuses raw, unedited live funk with the shimmering production language of late-’70s disco, all captured to 16-track reel-to-reel tape. Tribal chants, Afro-rooted percussion and a locked-in four-on-the-floor groove collide with vintage synthesizers, theremin, space echo and sci-fi atmospherics, creating a sound that’s hypnotic and strangely futuristic. Drawing inspiration from the original European “Cosmic” DJ culture, where disco, afro, dub, funk and exotica blurred into trance-like dance music, Earthrising feels both deeply rooted and boldly exploratory, an all-live, organic vision of disco’s outer limits.
