The Appetizers - Keep Your Step

Milan’s The Appetizers return with Keep Your Step, a soulful take on rocksteady and early reggae that feels deeply rooted in Jamaica’s golden era while still sounding fresh. Across fourteen tracks, the band draws on the sounds of Studio One and Treasure Isle, with echoes of Jackie Mittoo, Toots & The Maytals, The Upsetters, and ’60s American funk woven into their warm, organic grooves.

There’s plenty here for the dancefloor, but the record also has something to say, touching on love, perseverance, social issues, and the importance of genuine human connection. With a locked-in live-band feel and a deep respect for the music’s roots, Keep Your Step is a great pick for anyone into classic rocksteady, early reggae, and the soulful space where Jamaican music and funk meet.
