Soul Visions is Deheb’s instrumental homage to the golden era of 1970s soul, jazz-funk, and cinematic groove. The French beatmaker and producer, known for his early New York collaborations with Moka Only, Sean Price, Torae, and more, and for the global breakdance staple tracks he made with DJ Marrrtin as Funky Bijou, turns his attention here to the roots that shaped his sound. Across the album, Deheb moves from the cinematic textures of early-70s soundtracks into the deeper, funkier jazz grooves of the late decade, with warm guitars, lush electric pianos, and synths that feel both nostalgic and fresh. Soul Visions is a tribute to the era’s great architects, The Mizell Brothers, The Bell Brothers, Isaac Hayes, Roy Ayers, Yuji Ohno, and Clarence Reid, while still carrying Deheb’s own signature blend of crate-digging soul and modern beatmaking.
