Kaleidoscope is a 12-track journey through the psychedelic pop imagination of French composer Jack Arel, whose work quietly shaped the sound of European pop, television, and cinema throughout the late ’60s and early ’70s. Compiled by Farfalla Records, the album draws from Arel’s prolific years with the Chappell label (1967–1972), created alongside close collaborators Pierre Dutour and Jean-Claude Petit. These pieces blur the lines between library music, soundtrack cues, and kaleidoscopic pop songwriting, with music built for the small screen, the silver screen, and somewhere stranger in between. Highlights include cult touchstones like “Psychedelic Portrait,” later immortalized in The Prisoner, the cosmic theme “Strange Galaxy” from the sci-fi series Phoenix Five, and rare selections from the elusive musical Je fus cet enfant là, with deeper cuts reaching into the shadowy corners of European underground cinema.
