Alone Together captures two jazz legends, guitarist Jim Hall and bassist Ron Carter, in a live, unaccompanied duet setting. No drums, no piano, just tone, trust, and decades of musical intuition.
Originally recorded live at the Playboy Club in New York in 1972, the set is intimate but never sleepy. Hall’s delicate, harmonically rich lines weave around Carter’s deep, resonant bass work. Standards like “Alone Together” and “St. Thomas” get reimagined as quiet conversations that are subtle, playful, deeply alive.
This is the 1985 Japanese reissue on Milestone (VIJ-6458), complete with obi strip and Japanese-language insert. Cover is VG+ (light wear); vinyl is VG+, one minor scratch but otherwise clean and pristine.
A must for fans of stripped-down jazz, musical chemistry, and late-night listening.
