Voyage Spectral sees Magic Source drifting deeper into the stranger, more obscure corners of disco, where cosmic imagination and rootsy groove meet. Led by producer and tape devotee Björn Wagner (Mighty Mocambos, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band), the group expands on the otherworldly feel of Earthrising and Riviera Drive, folding in “lost” tropical rhythms, Mediterranean funk, outernational boogie, and flashes of sci-fi soundtrack flair. Recorded live to 16-track analog tape with vintage instruments and an all-star cast of musicians, the album feels tactile and transportive, with angelic voices, swirling synths, sharp horn lines, and intricate polyrhythms locking into place with ease.
