Singaporean rapper and producer Mary Sue teams up with the Clementi Sound Appreciation Club for Porcelain Shield, Paper Sword — a richly layered blend of abstract hip-hop, live jazz instrumentation, and Southeast Asian musical traditions.

Built around the story of a time-traveling oracle searching for meaning in the modern world, the album drifts between beauty and unease. Gamelan-inspired percussion and traditional flutes weave through smoky brass lines and loose, off-kilter drums. Samples dissolve into live performance, melodies unravel and reform. The result is a sound that feels at once ancient and futuristic, grounded and dreamlike.

Across its tracks, Porcelain Shield, Paper Sword explores what it means to find truth in a world where spirituality and performance blur, and where the pull between past and present never fully settles. It’s an album about tension and transformation — fragile, searching, and deeply human.
