Mystic Jungle - Sunset Breaker

Mystic Jungle returns with Sunset Breaker, Dario di Pace’s third LP and his most adventurous album yet, a vibrant collection of solar-sonic fantasy built over years of stops, starts, and studio detours. Across the album, he blends danceable disco beats, sultry saxophones, searing guitars, and layered, call-and-response vocals into grooves that feel both ecstatic and intimate.

Tracks like “Secrets” and “Some Lovin’” pulse with body-moving energy, while “Innervision” and “Twilight” drift into lovers rock and neon-tinged new-wave dub pop, where yearning vocals, pixie-like hooks, and exotic synth and string textures conjure a sense of cinematic escapism. On sun-drenched, stoner-inflected cuts such as “The Road” and “Get Me Higher,” Mystic Jungle channels harmonized 60s psychedelia, radiant summer soul, and laid-back jam sensibilities, creating a soundscape that is at once playful, lush, and hypnotic.

Despite being released less than a year after the dreamy Words of Love single, Sunset Breaker reflects a patient, multi-year gestation, resulting in a record that is stylistically varied yet cohesive, playful yet precise. It’s a record for long drives into the golden hour, dancefloor reveries, or simply losing yourself in a richly colored world of sound that feels simultaneously fantastical and grounded.
