Oiro Pena – Béke

Béke brings a clear shift for Finnish jazz band Oiro Pena: the music still draws from spiritual jazz and folk roots, but this time the vocals step forward. Antti Vauhkonen and the group move with calm confidence through six pieces that balance searching improvisation with simple, resonant melodies. Finnish lyrics give the music a close, personal feel, and their version of that classic song “Motherless Child” adds a familiar thread for new listeners. Despite the theme of peace, the album never slips into softness, it’s full of momentum, strong ensemble playing, and a sense of purpose. A thoughtful, beautifully made record that shows Oiro Pena continuing to grow while staying true to their sound.

This 140g vinyl is a collaborative release between two stellar labels - Ultraääni and Salatut Elämät - and is a limited edition of 750 with beautiful cover art printed on a reversed reused sleeve.
