A low-key dancefloor spell with deep dub pressure and street soul swagger - Instrumental Dubs #3 is another stone-cold essential from Isle of Jura’s impeccable vault-diving series.

Pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl with eye-catching artwork by Bradley Pinkerton, this third volume keeps the grooves tactile and the moods smoldering, blending rare UK street soul, dubwise lovers rock, proto-house, and analog boogie heat.

Side A opens in the late-'80s UK, with two machine-riddled riddims from producer Howard Hill on the Passion Enterprises label - dusty, swaggering hybrids of lovers rock and lo-fi soul, all pulse and ghostly vocal trails. Then there’s the elusive Protek cut “I Love to Dance With You,” a proto-house rarity lovingly re-edited by Edinburgh's The Nightlark, wriggling with warmth and ready for the floor.

Flip to Side B and things get a little more electric. The Cool Notes’ “Natural Energy” struts on neon-lit synth lines and stripped-down vocals—think street soul meets roller disco in space. Closing it out is Ilija Rudman’s “Dub 4 Love (Secret Weapon Mix),” a Detroit-tinged nod to acid house’s golden era with enough submerged emotion to stop time at 3AM.

This series has become a crate-digger’s delight - and with each volume selling out fast, this one won’t sit long either.
