A standout 2025 release for fans of adventurous, slow-burn dance music and deep listening sessions.
Spanning recordings from 2017 to 2024, Window is the long-awaited debut album from Good Block—an experimental, boundary-pushing electronic duo based in Deptford and Brixton, UK. Released on their own label and limited to just 300 copies, this 2LP set showcases their evolution from party-starting DJs to fully formed producers crafting a sound that's at once playful, inventive, and sonically refined.
Drawing inspiration from ambient, acid, dub, synth-pop, Balearic, and the far corners of global music culture, Window doesn’t settle into one lane. Instead, it moves between moods and styles with a composer’s sense of balance and flow. Whether it's the electro-dub tension of “Scatter Dub,” the dreamy polyrhythms of “Sandii,” or the expansive ambient-techno closer “Rain,” each track feels fully sculpted—not looped. There’s melody, texture, live instrumentation, and subtle narrative shifts baked into the grooves.
The album also has a backstory that reflects its DIY spirit: lost lacquers, delayed pressings, and a final recut made possible by eco-friendly new technology via Good Neighbor Records, pressed on 100% recycled vinyl using injection molding. The result is an album that’s not only beautifully produced but consciously made.
Fans of William Orbit, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Andrew Weatherall, Art of Noise, or Trevor Horn’s more exploratory productions will find plenty to love here. But make no mistake—Good Block have carved their own lane with this one. Window is a record that doesn’t chase trends; it sits confidently in its own space, and invites you to stay there a while.
